A classic example of how a fragrance can be changed by body chemistry. It is the ultimate feminine floral . souvenir of the 80's. This is the only one i can recall almost as a dream. Pungent heavy chemical awfulness. I tested it two days ago - one spritz on the back of my hand. Wouldn't mind taking the olfactory train down memory lane if I could find a bottle of the original, but don't miss wearing it. A reviewer below called it "tangy" and yes, that's the right word. A delicate and interesting mixture of scents that can't let you indifferent! I love fragrances from the 70's. I wear this to work I spirits on just a tiny bit it last all day(which is why I like it). I miss this beautiful fragrance here, in Uruguay. Decades have passed, and I moved on from these to other styles. I got a vintage Chloe, 50ml, like the above bottle but def a Lagerfeld box. (btw, she loves that she can now buy this at a drugstore at a great price! No repurchase just a fond farewell. But I wasn't sure about Chloe. In summer, it makes me think of the warm summer days surrounding me, but in fall/winter, it reminds me of being on a heated porch, wrapped in flannels and blankets, watching the cold wind whirl all around outside of the bubble of the porch -- thankful that this warm embrace exists. There are good reasons it still sells - it is a tribute to classic femininity created by esteemed designer, Karl Lagerfeld ( recently deceased ). It smells a tad old fashioned, too. Mostly for sentimental purposes, as it was one of the fragrances my mother would wear (and I frequently stole from her medicine cabinet for a spritz) when I was a child. It has a vintage aura that makes me feel pretty in a retro, red lipstick, sorta way. I'm back dear lady. It lacks some of the depth of the original Chloe, but I still like it very much - it still has decent projection and longevity, at least no one will complain of "tasting" it again....the days of perfume smelling that powerful are long gone. At first I thought it was musty/soapy and powdery and I liked it fine... but you must try on skin! It tells all those teen frags, hey grils, this is how you are sweet without being dessert. beautiful, but nothing unique. They collect dust because it's hard to wear them in the modern world despite their beauty. I'd like to recommend the vintage version of this as worth trying -- I have fond memories of my high school sweetheart smelling wonderful wearing it in the 80s :-). Some days its very fresh some other days its more like a twin to Calvin Klein Obsession on my skin, they share the spicy vibe's. Warm, heavy, dusty aroma with sandalwood-cedar-moss drydown. A floral note lingers into the otherwise woody, ambery drydown. I donât get much wood at all. Thereâs something about it, possibly the tuberose combined with peach, that makes it smell a little like sunshine. I first tried this in winter, because my mom used to wear it, and it was a headache inducing nightmare. I might still wear it during spring or autumn, but it is definitely not a favourite and I would not repurchase. Recently bought a vintage, Lagerfeld version, from eBay. It was quite nice in a sense. It's from the year it came out. A la descente de la brume, le bois secret sâallume. Not really "wearing" it to give it a chance. This fragrance just does not fit my image of myself anymore. The main difference to me is that the reformulated Chloe is sharper with lots of buzzing hairspray aldehydes before hitting the central tuberose, honeysuckle, jasmine and lilac notes. It's too...something...Maybe too much aldehyde or tuberose, I'm not sure. But sometimes it reminds me of my great granny. I like both to be honest but the vintage is more crowd friendly. It reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds and Emeralds a bit, very orange blossom honeysuckle. I can remember sitting in the bathroom watching her put on her makeup and teasing her hair, cigarette leaving a trace of nicotine on the edge of the sink, and her fussing that she forgot she left it there. A touch of coconut gives an opaque-ish finish. There is something so warm and cozy about this fragrance. I can not understand why it is not preferred over the new generic and over priced version. There are other fragrances that seem to come to mind briefly although this scent is unique. It breaks my heart that this perfume has so many dislikes! One year I decided to buy her a bottle for Christmas only to keep it for myself instead! What I remembered the most about it was the peach note, not having the nose or knowledge to identify any other notes. Just neutral. Chloe cut through all of it: the hairspray, the cigarette smoke, the tobacco, the face powder. Chloe is an iconic floral that never goes out of style. What they bottle today under this name is nothing Ike it used to be. I don't generally like a lot of the "classic" perfumes--I hated Chanel No 5 for instance--but this one is very pleasant. Here it is an hour later and it has mellowed out a bit, to a more green/lush blend with the floral. It's a beautiful heavy floral perfume. Chloe Douglas, 2018. I'm picky. Chloe original is such a cheerful scent. An early memory of mine being very little-4or5-is this bottle standing on its box on my mother's boudoir. I'm amazed. There is a subtle mystery about this fragrance. Like someone above stated, this was in drug stores when I was a teenager in the '70s, and it was very popular with kids, but way too tuberose-y for me! A very pleasant, enjoyable scent, just not the classic powerhouse I was hoping for. No, not really. Somehow, it resembles a tiny molecule of any oriental frag for me. I had the opportunity of re introduction by a client of mine who was wearing this scent. i do realize that i recognize and have smelled it on people in the past, which is always interesting. The drydown is the best part - it's sweet and musky, I can definitely feel the benzoin, gorgeous coconut and amber. A couple years ago I received this as a gift from a friend. Not light but then that's what a classic French perfume was originally like. They were my intro to the big powerhouses of silage. After a hectic/stressful day you come home and start a nice warm relaxing bath, sip some wine to unwind and let go of your days worries. Thats probably down to the formula.The only good thing for me? I have both vintage versions, and all I get from them is musty overripe peach and a tiny hint of vinegar. Enjoying this, my motherâs favorite, now that the weather is FINALLY warming up and feeling more like spring. However, after I opened up the box, I realized (duh) that it was the original Chloe. I remember the scent being quite strong, but sweet in a floral way, maybe the orange blossom and honeysuckle. Recently I smelled Chloe at a discount store and it still smelled cheap. after awhile i sense more tuberose, but i think the hyacinth and lilacs are making it seem more powdery and spring-like. This is another one I love, as it's another one of the few vintage perfumes that seem to suit my body chemistry. If you're tired of the sugary vanillas of the last few years and aren't into "trendy", definitely give Chloe a shot - you may just find your new classic! My favorite out of the Chloe line. Cecita is still sold in Brazil, though diluted by many reformulations (it was a very potent scent,beloved by Brazilians in the 80s and early 90s, since at that time foreign perfumes were unbeliavably prohibitive to the population and Cecita had great longevity , projection and sillage). It has incredible sillage and longevity-- but that only makes it worse if you dont like it! its a shame they discontinued the old formula..........it was a beautiful strong creamy floral scent............i just loved it..........the re-created version im sad to say just doesnt cut it........smells to chemical for me - it lacks the creaminess.........and where the heck are the aldehydes lol - not in the re-created version......and the beautiful honeysuckle & tuberose in the original just doesnt shine in the re-created version..........i think its time for this one to be put to sleep lol............but i do love the "new" chloe (in the square bottle ) & the whole "new" chloe line - which is nothing like this recreated version - so dont get them confused :). I bought the reformulation for the sake of having the bottle, but the scent itself is hideous. I don't immediately smell 'white flowers" I smell more yellow/pink flowers if that makes sense. Way back in 1980, when I was 10 years old, a family friend gave me a sample vial of Chloe because she thought it was something that a "young lady" might enjoy. This could be the inspiration for Giorgio or Poison. this is like a orchestra of flowers and notes that keep growing by the minute! Huge longevity. I can't believe I had never checked out this perfume. Since Cecita was a very well known perfume and predates Chloe by almost 10 years, you reach your conclusions. It was like I'd found my long lost soul mate. I used up my teeny miniature and eventually bought a large bottle but it smelled different, just floral, no sweetness. I am very happy that it appeared to me out of the blue, as it did. You dry down to a beautiful field of floral loveliness, but you are so warm and cozy (must be the amber, musk and woody notes). I'm just a little surprised how this scent is pretty enjoyable, if I was to wear this I would put it on very lightly because it could be easily overwhelming. Very powerful scent, not entirely off-putting. I guess it's a pretty well-rounded fragrance and its age is a testament to its uniqueness. It smells very mild and musty. I sense a tiny, little spice (is that pepper?) I had it twice: first, the Karl Lagerfeld version and then, the Chloe's one. It has been around since 1975 ! I never really appreciated this beauty when I had it at the end of the 80s, I rarely wore it and I've been ignoring it ever since, I'd dismissed it as an old fashioned heavy floral.. what a fool I was. Truth be told, I don't get any tuberose in this- I get much more aldehyde, orris root, rose, lilac, honeysuckle and musk. It was a bitter-type aldehyde that did not evolve into anything more appealing. I have lately been wearing it to bed and it's heavenly to me. Sweet but pretty, though dated. Smells like a beautiful Hindu priestess.
The first time I tried Chloe, my impression was hardly favorable. What my mother wore in my childhood. This is a great scent for spring, but really would be good for any time of the year. I thought it was the most beautiful fragrance I'd ever smelled. I finally got a tiny miniature and it was love at first sniff. Not a fan of the original but I know it smelled a lot better than this. I wore this when it was first introduced in 1975..I loved it then and it is still one of my favorites..The parfum is the best way to experience it, and a little dab is enough..It brings such wonderful memories, just as classic scents are supposed to do.. When the formula was first created it was not a cheap scent at all and sold in nice department stores. I like floral powdery smells as they remind me of Victorian ladies...I wish I could have smelled the other Chloe perfumes along side of this. Tuberose, peaches, and aldehydes with hints of coconut! It smells fruity, elegant, strong but at the same time so soft. Strange, cause notes of different Chloe fragrances are not the same, of course, and I can't track what is 'the note that does not like my skin'. It's buttery and spicy on my skin. It was rich,full sophisticated lady scent, and I was a teenager and couldn't pull it off. Green and soapy at first with a big dose of aldehydes and hyacinth. The silage is moderate on me and she lasts 4 hours or so. She later went back to the powder dark side, and I don't think they suit her as well. With drier, more floral fragrances cycling back into vogue (my fellow Millienals have become adults!) It smells like a million bucks but it's a cheapie, so get it while it's still selling and I hope to God it is never discontinued. As time passed, rather quickly, I got a scent I've admired on others for......a million years! I could still smell the hints of more complex florals, and the nice woody, mossy base, but only as the merest suggestion. My sister wore this in the 80's.
